They are both great from what I can see. However since I will be doing more street traveling with mine, I like the 190cx, its a little smaller and lighter.

The 190 is much smaller and lighter. It is what I take out hiking. Also, I am short- 5'6" and it is the perfect height without extending the center shaft at all. 5D mkIII, 1D mkIV, Tokina 16-28 f/2.8, EF 24-70L, EF 70-200 f/2.8L II IS, EF 100-400L, EF 85 f/1.8, Sigma 50 f/1.4, EF 24-105

Did not like the stability of the 190. Also found I do not use a center column. So for Christmas we are replacing those with carbon tripods.

Snydremark my very own Lightrules moment More info | Both good, one's larger/heavier/sturdier (055) and one's smaller/lighter/more compact (190). I own the 055 in both the aluminum and carbon fiber (4 section) variants; I just recently upgraded to the CF model because the aluminum one is simply too large and heavy to carry around regularly. - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife

However the 190 is as stable as I would need with a pro body gripped and a medium lens doing video in a strong wind, which Ive done. 6D | 7D | XSI | EF-S 10-22 | EF 50 1.4 | EF 24-105L | 100-400L │ EF-100mm Macro| MT-24EX │580 EXII | Black Rapid RS-5 | lots of Think Tank.
