Surfing La Jolla (Wind n Sea) 12-10

Here's a few surfing shots at Wind n Sea after work on Friday. The swell dropped off form the prior day but at least there was more visibility. Tough shooting conditions as it was chilly and cloudy (had to bump up ISO to maintain SS). It was my first pass w/the 100-400mm and was happy I went w/this lens vs. the 400mm prime (I had to pull back the lens for the guys on the inside).

Feedback/comments are always welcome and if anyone can explain how to embed photos from Flickr it would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's not difficult but I can not figure out.

in the 2nd shot the surfer kinda gets lost in the wave.. any closer ones of him?

I like your first shot effstop. The second shot looks like it could use a tighter crop above, below, and to the right of the photo.

Got to the photo's page.
Above the photo, there is a "Share This" link that you click on.
A window will pop up with a link towards the bottom to "Grab the HTML/BBCode"
Select the size of the photo you want and select the button for BBCode.
Copy the link and paste it in your post.

BTW, I'm jealous of your new lens! I'm still saving up for a 400/5.6L.

1st shot - great timing! Little too much spray instead of wave. I like them to be equal in height.

2nd shot - Maybe just a tad more crop and its underexposed.

Still, I'd be happy if they were of me!

Thanks for the info on embedding! I had to sell my 200mm 2.8 and other random items in the garage to help fund my dust pump and made for an easier sell with my wife.

I'm having to do the same thing! I got a great deal on a 400/5.6L and will need to sell my 200/2.8LII to get back some of those funds. I'm also selling my Sigma 50/1.4 to even it all out.

I know I'm going to really miss the 200/2.8LII for all the great shots it's given me, but I'm really excited to try out the 400/5.6L! It should arrive in a few days. The only other thing I'll need is some swell to pick the surf back up!
