I've had too many bad experiences. Mushkin, Kingston, Crucial are all pretty decent. I've returned PNY a couple of times and now just put them on my banned list. Transend, A-Data, or Simpletech I'll use if the PC is not going to be run at it's limits or it's a kids machine but for a workhorse, I prefer the name brands. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

And I've bought hundreds of sticks of RAM from them over the last few years.

The only difference between cheaper RAM and more expensive RAM is how much they test it to make sure it's good...and marketing. Also, "Mac" RAM is just normal RAM with a price markup.

G.skill seems to be one of the better brands nowadays. Lifetime warranty no questions asked and all.

OCZ, G Skill, Mushkin etc.. all followed. Viking and Kingston are older RAM companies, but they also followed Corsair into the high performance fray. GEAR LIST

If it's of any relevance, G.Skill holds 7 out of the top 10 DDR3 kits on Newegg.
