I took this last night. It is of my Audi S4 Avant (a station wagon with a sport suspension, big brakes, and a pair of turbochargers strapped to the motor).

Clear evening, crisp air, and a B5 S4 (only the Germans would think it is normal to make a twin-turbo station wagon!) (external link) by Friedrich Neeeetzche (external link), on Flickr

I think the nose of the car to the front would have suited better, but I feel as though the building is competing with the subject!

Too many reflections of light on the sides too.

Well, if I were going through a mid-life crisis, a station wagon surely wouldn't be on my list (no matter how many turbos it had)... :D

Regarding the pic...not much car in the image, and too much of everything else. Perhaps a different angle, parking lights turned on, and maybe a bit earlier in the evening. Ditto the reflections comment. Also, try not to crop it so close to the edge of the frame. Take a look in the 'Transportation' forum for more ideas on shooting cars...

Hahaha. They say 27 is the new 38.

I do agree that the building is very strongly competing with the car (probably overpowering it)

I hope to return to this spot one day. Everything was just right (even the moon was up at 5:30pm!). My biggest problem was that the camera was about 6 inches off of the ground in a dirty street, so i couldn't really get down there to really ensure I would get the details correct.

I think its better than nothing.

Oh, and BTW, this is actually 3 exposures merged together in CS3. Im not a fan of most HDR as i think it is overly abused, but i think this was a good candidate for it.

Here are the 3 shots:

Sadly the building looks far more interesting than Europe's finest estate car.

I too would like to see it from the front quarter angle with wheels turned slightly and if possible a bit more distance in between building and car.

Have you taken the chrome mirrors off ?

In retrospect, it appears the building overpowered the subject :(

The camera was only 4 inches off of the wet ground so I had to kind of approximate the composition :(

And on the B5 generation, only the RS4 received the brushed aluminum mirror covers :( The B6 generation of S4s would get those mirror (2004-2006 and all subsequent generations).
