A new series I am working on. CC appreciated. These frames are from full size 5DII files and total 16000 pixels wide.

Agreed.

Not a big fan of the matte style, though...

The matte is simply to give a background for the 3 images and the height is a minimum size required for protecting in Digimarc while the width is the maximum size allowed on this forum. I opted for as much image as possible rather than a symmetrical matte. In print the images will likely float over a matte board. I haven't made up my mind yet.

They look much better without the wave curls. Just a thought...how would it look if you swapped positions with the left and center image? Would the surf lines be close to matching up? Either way, it looks good...

Hi argyle ... Thanks for the comments. Notice that the center image is smaller in width than the outside frames. The middle frame had some wave action on the left side which was cropped. I count myself lucky that these 3 frames match as well as they do. I was not thinking tryptych when I shot the surf that day. I had my head in a friends funeral that I attended earlier. I have several different sets of images for the series. The ones with waves will be in one set. I have a couple of other sets of wave less surf (aside from this tryptych) that I am evaluating.

The other thing that is important about the order is that the middle frame shows the remaining surf from the high surf line in the outside frames. So connecting the outside high surf line with the middle remnant surf line adds to the story about the way the surf ebbs and flows. It sort of completes the story line by introducing the notion of time. All 3 frames are unique.
