I have those triggers, and they work very well. As cheap as a cord, too.

If you want to leave that cheap UV filter on your lens while you're not taking pictures, fine. Just remove it before you take the shot. You want to see if it degrades your pictures? Just prove it to yourself. Find an interesting landscape with lots of detail, then take pics with and without the filter. View them at 100% and check the differences.

hello from a fellow XTi'er that just got back into it all...

go for the glass.. the body is plenty capable and i won't upgrade the body probably until this one craps out or the technology goes another few steps...

I have a battery grip on mine. Doubling my battery capacity and giving me something substantial to grasp made all the difference for me with my giant mitts.

Also, I keep losing the little eyecups. It's good to have a couple in reserve. I also have the little eyepiece extender so when I look through the eyecup my nose isn't jammed against the LCD screen. That's a pretty smart purchase, too.

I already stated that I have that, but yes it's good to have. Taking it off now makes the camera feel to small for me. Plus I like how it reminds me of the SLR camera motor drives from years past.

I just reread your original post. I noticed that you want to set up a small home studio. One thing that will help is a 5-in-1 reflector. These are great for outside shots, too. They help you bounce light back onto the shadow side of your subject to create nice fill light, or provide the main light source outside. get 4GB(min) CF cards instead of 1 GB

The only reason I got two 1GB CF cards was because they were cheap at the time and many were saying it's better to retain your pics on several smaller cards than one larger card. That way if there is a card failure, you don't lose everything.
