The top one is overprocessed to my taste. If I had to pick between the two it would be the bottom one, but I think there is a better version somewhere in the middle where you can still retain a bit more sky and not look so artificial as the first.

I'm assuming single image hdr as there seems little shadow detail gained and if anything it is worse now in this regard. There's also the radioactive glow and enough halos for each of the saints many times over. However, despite thes little imperfections it is much more attention grabbing than the rather drab original.

The processed one is more dramatic than the original, i like the over processed one.

correct...single image.

I liked the angle on the original shot, but the sky was just completely blah. didn't have a tripod with me to try for a true hdr.

any recommendations for dealing with a completely gray sky in a shot like this?
