Reworking some Yellowstone shots....

Straight out of camera...

When I took the trip a few years back.... I was working with CS2 or CS3 and I didn't have Lightroom at the time.

Shot with the Canon 5D and the Canon 16-35L

Technology has advanced as we all know... Lightroom 3 and CS5 are amazing. Have a look at the "After" shot. Most of the work was in LR3 and them cleanup and polished in CS5.

I think it will make for a nice metallic print.

Going back and reworking my images from this trip...and others...

Good times!

Nice shots. But what is done to it in Lightroom and CS5, that couldn't be done in CS3. Curious.

I should have said... my knowledge advanced as well.. :) as I could have done these things to a point in CS3... with a few more steps...vs having all the adjustments in LR3 readily available.

Much faster processing in LR3 IMO...

I used the spot healing tool set to content aware fill in CS5... does a great job cleaning things up. Could have used the spot toll in LR3... but ... I like the one in CS5.

Used the gradient tool for the sky in LR3... and so on. Things have just become easier with the newer tools ... and with me learning more stuff over the years. LR3 really pulls a lot out of the images without much work on my end.

Hope this makes sense? I see your point.. all of this could have been done in CS3 with a little time and effort.

Oh ok. It wouldn't take much time in CS3, a minute or so. You'd just change the layer blend, and add some saturation. To get rid of spots and such, try the patch tool, its much better than any of the healing tools or cloning.

I don't know about the patch tool... I like it..it's useful at times... but the healing brush with content aware fill has been fantastic when I retouch stray hairs in portraits. All are very useful tools... just having fun in CS5... just upgraded a couple of weeks ago from CS3.
