I will come back and critique after I have a few of these. ;)

A very tasteful composition. Good curves and color. I love the clarity as well!
The only improvement that I can think of is having two more models such as this one in the frame! This is a great start (of the day) :)

For those that don't quite "get" this thread its just a different take on critique - instead of posting the shot in a thread and seeing who turns up to comment and critique the OP here is offering his own input specifically for people to directly ask for this input. Of course the weight of that input will vary depending on the person its directed at. I don't see it as an ego trip nor running the risk that the OP's views are the only ones worth having - its just a direct way for people to get his input instead of reliance upon him maybe appearing in their crits thread.
Build that together with the fact that giving crits on others work helps to train and refine ones own critical eye and things help not just the receiver but also the giver as well.

Thus in light of all that I'll offer up a shot for critique; :)
QUOTED IMAGE

Hello! thank you for the input.

I think this photo needs to be a part of a series. For example put some beetles (worms?)on some interesting words in a book. This is not a bad picture, it is just lacking story. All I can see is a word WHO. WHO? what? where? what does it mean? most likely it is an inside joke, or just a random word.

Words and lettering in a photo have a huge power. They pretty much define the photo and spell out it's meaning. It's a really gray area, at least for me.
There are books with pictures and the pictures in the books help us imagine better.
This photo reverses this - it helps you too read in better while looking at the picture.

Imagine if you were reading a book about a the band THE WHO and the it's cover would show Ringo Starr. WTF right? ;)

lovely. for a love story that is. great light. great background. It all makes sense... BUT
I cant decide of I like the dry grass. I do and I don't. I'd have one shot of each (with/without)

They are looking at the camera, and I tend to cringe a little when that happens during a couple's shoot. Imagine of all actors in a movie would look at the camera :) Same here.
If you have a story to tell, have your actors/models, help you with the narrative and act it out for at least 1/200 of a second ;)

:) Thanks for your review. Another one from my side.

I felt that going a little wider might have added to the mood but wasn't sure. What do you think?

Signatures are placed at approximately the same location as that of previous pic since this file was processed before I saw your comments. :)

Thanks for your time.

hi again!! :)

may I first sing you a song? it's one of my favorite songs and I think now I know what it is about! White balance!!

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
yeah, they were all yellow

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called Yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to've done
And it was all yellow... etc etc etc...

(c) Coldplay

I am not too sure what the story is behind the shot. I don't know...
Would would be better for me to see is -

them sitting under one umbrella
them wearing something less conflicting
not having smirks on their faces (the smiles are a bit fake)

this looks so staged that I am surprised I don't see a camera crew around :)

Good morning Misha,
What do you think about this shot? I took it late yesterday for a family friend. The photo will be used to make Christmas card. It was right in their backyard.
Thanks.

I think the kids look a bit surprised, confused, and a tad stiff. Give them something sweet next time, so they have more energy ;) :):)

I would have used more of a natural light, having my light separating them from the background instead (behind and to the side)
the light here is pretty shadowless, so what difference does it make if I shoot in natural light(shade). You would have gotten the same lighting as main (natural) and some nice rim to add the" pretty" to your photo.

I do have some without the grass and some where it is present, but not as intrusive. And to be honest I'm not personally a big fan of having grass stick up in the foreground. But, I was trying new things and the female model is really fond of a shot like this. So like you I can go either way on this one.

Thanks for the movie analogy. I love movies and probably approach some of my photography with a cinematic viewpoint. I tried to mix up where the models looked this time around and I'll eventually get to processing some where they are not looking into the camera. it seems easy enough until you are at the shoot and trying to direct them. I have seen some great pictures of couples where they don't make eye contact with the camera and it seems more natural. I also appreciate shots where they do make eye contact but it doesn't come off like they are posing for the camera.

Thanks for the insight!

the pose and the expression are pretty strange. Not intriguing, but actually strange. What is she doing? You also cropped the elbows restricting the composition. I am a huge fan of crossprocessed coloring, but this one is a tad over cooked.

Try not to crop out too much at the joints. It works on some occasions, but its rare. If there's long hair, don't crop out the ends of it. Yellow teeth are not cute. Have a less busy og a background. Quite a odd photo...

Thanks sir, I value your opinion!

I think this would be a great shot if the word were "leaf" or "aphid". As though the bug could read and was interested in reading about his food.

Also, why the heck do my browsers reduce the exposure of my images and what looks like lower the color temp? It's getting annoying having one image that I can view in lightroom or windows picture viewer, but as soon as I upload to Facebook or Flickr, it's darker and blue...er. That last part may just be me hallucinating.[/QUOTE]

Are you uploading them with a sRGB color profile? If you have another embedded profile besides this, I know it can throw off the color in the way you describe on facebook and other sites.

Enjoying the thread.
I took a b&w film course in college, majored in painting, and have been using a dslr for a little over a year. My photoshop skills are sketchy. I enjoy photographing people. I like the expression on this little man.
