Have no idea how did I miss this thread!!! I Almost never

QUOTED IMAGE

[/IMG]

ok Ivo :)

here we go... what do you have here...

1. who is SHEILA? The name is in red and in caps, so it must me pretty important. Is it the name of your studio or brand? Because if this is the name of the picture it shouldn't be on the photo in CAPS in RED. The red lettering is incredibly distracting. Just watermark your name and site in the corner. IF people will be looking they will find your name. Having your siggy in giant lettering is actually anti attractive to clients. This goes to everyone who is afraid that people will steal their work. No the won't. They have Getty Images for that. Also, it will take 10 seconds to remove any watermark unless it is blocking half the picture.

2. You need to hang out around 1x.com. It is the best site of non professional photography to my knowledge in the universe. It is very highly moderated and only the best stuff makes it there. Fashion pic don't for some reason... but that's the moderator's preference.
So if you have visited that website a little more often you would have noticed that natural light is something that one needs to really learn. The lighting in this picture is pretty neglected. It is low, it is splitting the subject, Creating a Phantom of the Opera mask on the girl's face. You could have used this effect to your advantage, creating a mysterious atmosphere using posing and a tad darker exposure, but that pose is very much open and the lighting contradicts with the mood. shadows between the legs aren't cool either.

3. The bg is very much uneventful and boring. Plus it has those tilted lines that makes me think that the horizon needs fixing. But it's not, it's just the wall you picked.
Next time pic a lighter wall for shots like that. Your model is blending in.

some good rules of thumb for model testing outdoors.

she is wearing white? and blonde? awesome White wall - high key!
wearing black (most likely) awesome - white wall, high contrast
wearing red? give her your black t-shirt. :) take her to the white wall!

lol

Misha, Glad you started this. I think I have told you before, but I've been shooting for about 2.5 years.
Let me know what you think about this one. Thanks!

hey! long time no see! :)

I think this is a tad dark the tilt is slightly annoying. Feels like she is about to fall on her face. I am not a big fan of brick walls, because of the busy brick structure, yet I have a model test shot by a brick wall just recently, but it had exceptional light)
Brick wall shots are just so very common and I fail to understand why. Railroads? sure, you have perspective and open space, but brick walls? really? :)))

To be honest, this shot is not doing much for me. It is a girl looking at the camera smiling and pretending to pose. 2.5 years is more than enough time to sort out what works and what doesn't in your photographic mind. Though I am not dismissing your vision as wrong, but from my perspective, I'd step it up a little...

Thanks, and noted. I forgot about your feelings towards brick walls! Just checked out your flickr, as always very impressed with your work. Believe me, I wish I could hone in on a style. I keep experimenting and have found some things I like and some that just don't work. I just feel sometimes that with the senior shots, mom isn't paying to try things out. My comfort zone as of late has been in the studio on white and gray.

This thread seems to be so Korrector can swell his own ego. IMHO this thread is useless. Why not comment on others posts, where discussions can take place instead of Moderating his own thread. K is a hell of a photgrapher, but that does not make him the end all be all of who to seek for tips. I think the title of the thread says it all. "Get Korrekted" WTF

Leave moderation to moderators. It is not up to you to decide if a thread is pointless. Its fine that you think so but then move on.

No more comments about validity of this thread! If you have a problem with it then report a post and write your complaint and don't post in this thread.

I dont understand why people are upset over this thread..I have learned a lot from Korrector's critiques and I feel it has improved my work by showing me how to incorporate different aspects into my images...I dont see any ego stroking going on...

He tried that awhile back and people got offended. You said it best, he is a hell of a photographer. If you admire his work, then getting critique from him is valuable. As far as the title to this thread goes, have a sense of humor;)

Hahahahah this is great, lovely thread! Hahaha, I am double subscribed here!!!
Korrektor thanx for the words and man, you set down and wrote proper solid comments! RESPECT!
The reason I posted this "poor" natural light image is that I need to learn a looooot about natural light and you Misha, are the best school around here, Russian old-school, hehehe.
Sheila is the model and she deserves capital letters. They love the capital letters...Me on the other hand, I really don't care if people steal the images, but I want other models to see my name & my web. That watermark thing works quite good for me lately and it stays there...
And now I am off to 1x.com, see ya guys later on...
