Being too lazy to drag out my AB's right now, can a Canon Flash, (580II) mounted on camera, trip the AB's Flash slave?

Yes, no problem.

I wouldn't quite say "no problem" to the question. If the Speedlite is used in ETTL mode, the slaved monolight will trigger on the pre-flash. There are other problems that one can run into regarding exposure levels if Speedlites are used in ETTL mode and monolights are fired along with them even if the pre-flash timing issue is dealt with.

If the Speedlite is used in a purely manual mode (along with the camera exposure dial set to "M"), then monolights can be easily married into the system.

Thanks to both of you who answered. I was thinking of trying to trigger the AB's with a Canon MR14 EX Macro ring light. I realize everything would have to be in M mode but that's a good reminder. I look forward to trying this out in the next week or so.

I would happily sell 4 pock Wiz units and replace them with RF602s.

The considerable money saved could be invested in other things more worthy.
