I edited this photo and on my screen the skin looks fine, I sent it to Costco to print my Xmas cards and it came out very blue, almost like she is dead. My monitor isn't calibrated so I need to know if it is the lab or me

On my screen, this looks almost Sepia toned. The front of hair has a slight tinge of maroon or purple.

This image looks fine as it is and should not show up in a print as blue. I suspect there are some autocorrections going on by a machine and not with a human eye. If this is the case try to re-print with auto correction turned off.

Get a good lab. This was shot with an on camera flash at 5500 K and should be a no brainer to print. The problem lies with the high school drop outs that these cut rate "labs" hire to run their printers.

Take them back and demand a reprint.

Assume you meant Costco processing? If so, Costco has printer profiles you can use. They also allow you to set your profile with them to turn auto correction off. I've had the occasional problem with their local processing (wouldn't even consider their mail order processing) but generally we find they do a very nice job. All Costcos are not created or run equally.

yes this is what I was told. I called and was told I have to eat the cost since I did not set up the profile. Funny thing is I had to print a few ASAP and I used Walgrees (which is less than grade A lab) and they came out beautifully. I will set up the profile and send a sample prin but if it doesn't turn out right they will loose my buisiness.
Thanks for your advice

A good way to tell if it's the Lab or your processing that screwed up the print is to take a long look at photoshop's info pallet. Google "skin color value CMYK" or "skin color value RGB". Learn what values look good. If you edit by the numbers in your info pallet it doesn't matter so much if your monitor isn't correctly calibrated.

I"m sorry to hear that. Costco has always been one of the few 'The customer is always right' stores left. Let us know how you make out. Your image looks like it should have produced an acceptable print.

If you're uploading to the Costco website, make sure you don't leave the 'Auto Correct' checked.

No, more likely auto corrections that may be a standard default unless it is unchecked by the customer. There are not a lot of varying colors in this image so an auto levels would likely turn this photo an odd color just like auto levels would turn a photo with a big yellow flower into a very blue image.
