I have both and I prefer portraiture simply because it's a plugin so you don't have to leave photoshop. I think it's easier to do what you want to the photo then run portraiture, rather than having to close the file, open it in portrait professional, edit and save it, then open it again in photoshop..

Both are excellent though.

If you have to do any face shaping, Portrait Professional handles that. But there are some definite benefits to the self-masking properties of Portraiture that stretch even beyond the use of the plug-in itself (being able to automatically pull out skin tones is pretty useful).

Depending on which version you get, Portrait Professional can be used as a plugin for Photoshop too. Think it might be the next one up from their cheapo basic version.

That's the "Studio" version and the next higher version.

I've been using Portraiture for about three years now, and started using Portrait Professional a few weeks ago (killer deal for version 9 going on right now, until they release their v 10). They're both useful, but I can't make a critically valid judgment until I've had time to get to know Portrait Professional better.

Can't comment on Portraiture but Portrait Professional (Studio 9) is very goodas long as you don't let it do it's own thing!

I have used Portrait Professional for years.
I use it first for all the really close portraits.
Then later while I am in Photoshop I open them up again if they need any more work.
It works really well, takes 3 or 4 minutes per photo.
It is all I have ever used so can't compare it to anything.

Thats correct. killer deal but it has to be for a windows 64 bit system, which i have. Not available for mac users so my guess as to why portraiture may be the option for their operating systems. Looks like a really good product, looks like a time saver. Im getting sick and tired of cleaning up blems and playing with the liquify tool. Looks like the way to go after watching the videos. Thanks for the replys guys, appreciate it.

I tried PP, the standalone and just bought the Studio version a few minutes ago. I'm running Win7/64 bit and the IJ(*Y0p9*: plugin won't launch in either 32 or 64 bit CS5. I installed both from the standalone version. I have a support ticket in.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
