LOL, Crissa was closest....14. She loves to do pageants and won a title in a larger local one.

I was going to say either 14 or 40. Is it to late?

JON, you mentioned buying Velocity Micro Cruz Reader and their Tablet too. What is your opinion on them now that you have put them to use. We are really thinking of just getting a reader though. I read a few reviews on them, and they seem to get knocked for lagging with many of the features, but do work good for reading, their prime use. My brother got a Kobo for Christmas, and I am going to check with him how he likes it so far too.

YAY! On the interview! (Maybe she's trying to move you out of her area)

Ummmm... I'm still in her area... it's an adjunct faculty position in the department I currently work in... so I will keep my current position M-F and do the teaching either weekends/nights or online....

I'm in fear of the day that I decide to put up the cash for a reader/tablet. It's going to a hard decision. I think I want something closer to a netbook as far as capabilities but the form of a tablet. Luckily it's not going to be soon.

iPad serves well as a book reader.

I really don't need the whole tablet features though. I have my smart phone and a laptop. I really just want something to read books with, and if there are extras for the price, that's cool. If I was getting a tablet I would likely stay away from the iPad, as I have nothing Apple and would likely go with the Samsung Galaxy.

The eReader is $120, the tablets around $500.

Woke up to SNOW. Lots of snow. Like, it's STUCK TO THE GROUND!

 Sorry. I wore myself out yo-ing to Zane, and headed to bed shortly after.

Cool, it snowed on Mars.

Love it when you wear yourself out yo-ing to me before bed ;)

I just took Minnie out for her morning walk.

Yeah, ours is melting fast already, too. This definitely isn't like the December 2008 storm we had. That dumped a lot more snow on us than yesterday's, and the snow back then lasted about a week. I think this is all going to be gone by the time I have to go to work tonight... :(

Minnie does. Ashley always loved the snow, too.

You got alot.

I GOT AN INTERVIEW.... *deep breathing* I'm nervous... not because I don't know I'm qualified and good at what I do... but because of the issues... will be curious to see who else is on the interview committee.... Tomorrow morning at 9:30am I could totally use some positive thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does it do with things like Office documents etc? Obviously I don't expect to build a database in Access but can it at least view documents and do the basics? It doesn't have to be a full on computer but I would like more than just a reader that checks email.

My brother got a Kobo for Christmas, and I am going to check with him how he likes it so far too.

If it's just for reading, I'd go with the Reader. You can do mail and web with it, as well as download some games, and there are applications available to let you use Borders, Barnes & Noble and Amazon/Kindle DRM secured ebooks as well as unlocked ebooks for both of them. I don't know what versions of commercial ebooks are available in Canada; that may be a consideration too.

The screen's wider on the Reader than the Tablet, so there's more reading area on a page, and I prefer the application (FBReader) for unprotected ePub that runs on the Reader over the one (WordPlayer) that runs on the Tablet. WordPlayer's got a very fiddly customization and, what's worse, doesn't flow text nicely. If there's not enough room at the bottom of the page for a full line of text, it'll display the top (small portion) of the line and you'll have to guess, since it doesn't show up on the next page. I didn't experience that with FBReader on the Cruz Reader.

Both of them have WiFi. They're both touch-sensitive screens, but the Tablet's is capacitative so you need to use a finger, which is fine if you don't have fat fingers. I was able to use a stylus on the Reader for more precise control. And they're active LCDs, which most of the readers aren't. So you don't need an external light source for them.

Whew, housework, except laundry is done and the SheCave is one desk top away from done, for now. At least it is back to a state where I can work on this year's cards, maybe even get a few done and sent on time. :D

JENN you know I'm pulling for you.
