Who leaves a bird who can't fly out with a brand new adopted dog ALONE in a house for several hours??

Rocket science.

Sorry Cat and Malcolm.

He will most likely have the larger of the two non-master bedrooms, but the decision will be his. The one that abuts the master bath is the larger room, our unit is actually flipped form the diagram on the website.

I can see where each would have their advantages. Having a bathroom right outside the door would be good too.

Cat, that is really odd that they would do that. Some peoples kids.

Crissa, that is a nice layout. We are just finishing a major remodel of one much like that, but a two bedroom with just 1 1/2 baths. The living area is almost identical, and we removed the interior wall on the galley kitchen, and instead gave them a nice big island. We also extended the kitchen cabinets all the way along the other wall.
In my experience, many kids actually prefer a smaller bedroom. Not exactly sure why, maybe they feel more secure. How many kids love sleeping under stairs, or in other small spaces? We built a 3 bdrm home for a single mom with one 10 yo daughter, and she designed the second bedroom to be nice for the daughter. This daughter insisted on having the much smaller 3rd bedroom, go figure.

My walk today was rather cool on the face. I shoulda worn goggles, as I just had sunglasses on but the wind got inside them and kept freezing my eyelashes to my cheeks when I blinked. Hard to open ones eyes that way.
It was only -22°C (-8°F for you that can't tell temps proper ;)), but the windchill musta been quite high.

Back, just a virus. we were worried about strep but that was clear and they tested his blood for pneumonia!! but he's fine. If things haven't gotten better by Tuesday we go back, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

Our new place has original 4'' wooden parquet flooring, we will refinish as it isn't in bad shape at all. Since it is original to the building they actually have replacement tile there in the maintenance department that we can buy, then will refinish ourselves as Billy has done it many times.

Good news! Being sick sucks.

nope...we sign the contract tomorrow and submit our package to the board Wednesday, meet with them on the 17th and then close after then.

I am hoping to get in next weekend tho as Eli hasn't seen it yet and is very curious as to what his new room will look like. When I do, I will get pics!!

How exciting!! Can't wait to see your new place!

Window curtains and Roman Shades went up fine and look goodish. Colors were a compromise on my part, I'll get use to it.

Malcolm the chihuahua was adopted yesterday.
They just returned him. On the phone, the guy would only say that there was an incident, and he'd talk to me when he got here.

I'm thinking 'oh crap, he bit a kid' or something horrid like that.

Nope.

Apparently, he was SO well behaved, and such a great little house dog, that they didn't feel the need to crate him or contain him in any way while they were at church this morning.

They also didn't see the need to cage their pet bird that free roams the house.

Yeah.

They got home from church to feathers everywhere, no bird, and a fat Malcolm.

I feel badly, the kids are heartbroken, but REALLY!? Who leaves a bird who can't fly out with a brand new adopted dog ALONE in a house for several hours??

I have no words.

Jim I would love to open up the kitchen with an island, but the wall that is on the living room side is structural. We do plan on extending the cabinets.

He might choose the smaller one, but it is farther from us, and I think he's going to want to be closest. Fine by me if he picks the other tho!!

Crissa, are you certain it is load bearing? In a building that tall the floors/ceilings are usually concrete and the interior walls are just partitions. There is usually a few concrete pillars that hold it up. Things may be different there though, especially if the floor is wood framed. Is there a beam off the end of that interior wall towards the exterior wall? That would tell you if it were load bearing, or not.

BTW, when do we get to see pictures. You are not the only one a bit excited about this too, you know. ;)

I told him that of all the reasons I'd ever heard, that was a first.
I know that it's wrong, but I had to suppress my laughter when he told me. I'm sorry.. I feel awful for the kids, and for the poor bird, but the stupidity involved is just... funny, in an 'idiotic, "I can't believe you did that" sort of way.
