The NASA 747 that used to carry the Space Shuttle was ferrying a brand new UAV from St. Louis to Edwards AFB and Flightaware showed it was going to make a fuel stop at Phoenix-Gateway Airport this afternoon so it was all hands on deck! That was until it air-filed direct to Edwards and flew right on past Arizona...! :(

The afternoon was not a total loss...

They're not 747s but they were flying and I was shooting... Can't really complain! ENJOY! :D

I guess when one door closes, another one opens Jay! Nice shots. I especially like the tight crop in #4. I am still envious of your weather though, 21 degrees here.

I'll second that.... it's 9am and it now up to -1..... it was down to -12 over night... I'm glad I'm to to AZ in a few days for some of that warmth.

Great photos too Jay

Nice ones.

I stumbled upon that flight when I noticed someone filed as a B747 instead of the usual B742 or 743 or whatever series it is. I guess NASA always files like that, what series is their 747?

Great shots Jay. I like the B&W on #1 and well, looking at the first three just makes me crave Pepsi for some reason... odd

Long live the Scooter!

Sometimes you just shoot what shows up, right? :D Native Michigander here so while I remember winter, I don't miss it one bit!

Thanks... Not sure what series they are. -200s maybe? Gonna have to research that one.

Just in case anyone was wondering what all the NASA fuss was about, this is what was supposed to stop off near me:

Just one of those quirky things we get out here 'cause of our weather.

Glad they're here and able to be shot.

Actually old 747-100's. They have a couple of them. I you see any of the old photos from the Enterprise days, you'll notice that one is still in American Airlines colors!
