If you are still in start up mode it is kind of easy to change the name. If you get big right away. It would not be worth changing the name. There is nothing wrong in keeping the name for the business the same and not changing it. You may have to do the " I got married (or other reason)" thing for a while. But in short the customer does not really care. They are buying your skill not your name.

Rather than because they have the skill to design and manufacture a superior product? I have a Blu-ray player. It's not an Apple, mind you, but it's shinier than it is "good." I fell for the capacitive touch buttons (as opposed to most devices' mechanical buttons) and sleek design. Operationally, it's glitchy. It's not HORRIBLE, but the looks defy the operation. But they make solid equipment. And that is the reputation that people buy it for. Not because of the cute name.

I mean, they're getting an iPhone because they want an iPhone despite being on a less than ideal network with a significant data limit. The reason they want the iPhone is they were told to want the iPhone. That doesn't mean it's total crap, but it's not really as great as it's marketed to be, as you acknowledged. Not the reputation behind the name. Your right. "They " say to get one, so people do. But then again, "they" wont say to buy it, if it is crap. Over promoted? You bet it is. But it is far from junk. Crippled by a business pertner? Absolutley. But again that is not the products fault.
