I was on a ferry in Sydney at dusk, and I thought I would play with my zoom.
Here are the results. (I know, still have to remove the dust spots)

Sort of like the abstract quality about them but I would like to hear what others think
All of them taken at ISO1600, f22, 1.6s

I like the first one. Reminds of this doctor who turned heads back in the late 60's.

I do enjoy this zooming technique with trees or tall grass - mainly tall, vertical objects.
For some reason these just don't appeal to me - though I can appreciate what you were going for.

Put your camera on tripod and effect in 1 and 2 works much better. At the moment techical quality is so far off that I would delete them.
Zoom effect is too strong for my taste. I would lower the ISO to get longer exposure and just at the end of exposure zoom just a tad to make the effect. With digital cam it so easy to shoot and check the LCD how good it looks and then adjust your settings/timing if needed

Not sure a tripod would help if you are on a boat!
