Crop Help

Wasn't sure how to crop this one, following the "rule of thirds". Is relative centering OK on a shot like this? Should I try to crop so that the eyes on a thirds line?

I think it looks good as it is.

Rule of thirds is a compositional guide and doesn't always apply.

If anything I would crop a bit off the bottom, about half of the branch width.

The "rule of thirds" is not set in stone IMO the crop and image are fine..

If it were my shot, I would consider a square composition. You'd get rid of the distracting out of focus twig on the left side.

Slavish adherence to rules is not the road to perfection. The most important thing about knowing the rules of composition is knowing when to break them.

Looks like it is following the 'rule' anyway to me...I like it. I would just PS out the brance in the left corner (I like the one in the top)

Nice capture as is, my only observation would be that the branch looks too uniform as if a manmade perch and this is indeed an aviary shot.

The Goldfinch was shot sitting on a limb of a young pecan tree in my back yard. I'll keep your suggestion in mind, thanks.
