@ malow..

i will try to do that on my next spare time..

i was out of town this day..

my camera is the 5D.. so my max sync is 200.. so on the normal cactus i got banding with 1/250

with my elinchrom skyport,i was able to push 1/250 with out banding.. 1/320 i started to get banding.. but if held the camera upside down i probably would have gotten away with it..

Does the Cactus V5 transmit TTL information? (would it work with auto flash?)

I apologize for the noob question. But do you know if these support highspeed sync (like mini/flex)? Or are they limited to the 1/250?

its not ttl so its limited to your cameras native syc speed... All high speed sync is a rapid firing of smaller flashes to fill the frame. So its not true high speed..

Yeah, I know HSS is weaker and it's just a series of bursts for illumination as the shutter goes from one side to the other. So I guess it's not quite like the mini/flex for those that want to have the ability to do HSS? (Though I know HSS is very rarely used for the typical studio/portrait work.)

Ya its still fired through the center pin..... But that does not make it a bad trigger... Alot of great features which will be detailed later..

I'm certainly not implying that the V5's are bad triggers. I suspect they are likely quite a bit less expensive too and if the 100yd range holds up, it would suggest that it's not affected by the RF interferences.

The 100m thing is being fully tested by the testers..

How silly of them not to include ttl support. The new radio triggers from Phottix are just around the corner with full ability to adjust, transmit and receive TTL information. http://www.lightingrumours.com …on-flashes-by-phottix-769 (external link)

It also has AF assist light on the transmitter.

Im not saying that Cactus is bad, but they need to keep an eye on the competition and not fall behind.

@ Ricku..

i think you need to compare apples to apples..

TTl anything isn't really going to save you time.. infact i can't stand anything TTL... but that is another topic..

it seems for me, i always just grab and use anything simple..

i have all three systems..

i use my cactus the most.. because they are simple and trigger manual stuff..

i have the all of them pocket wizards, radio poppers..and cactus..

i use in this order...

Cactus by far the most..,
radio poppers,
then pocketwizards (not for at least 1 year now.. need to sell them)

I use the cactus v2s still and have always been happy with cactus.

Is there any way to make these work with White Lightnings 600? I'm looking at getting cybersyncs, but than ran across this post. As far as I can see, it can't be as it needs the R11 cord. :-/

In what way?

They are reliable (so far). They don't suffer from interference from my 580EX flashes. They use AAA batteries. They come in Black. :p
