Hello my fellow photographers,

I've been putting in a considerable amount of thought in regards to purchasing the new Timbuk2 Snoop DSLR camera bag. My only problem so far is that I haven't been able to examine one in person. I usually visit my local camera store (BH Photo) and play around with my next potential purchase(s), but they don't currently carry the Snoop. In fact, the only known store that seems to have it in stock is the Timbuk2 website or eBay. So my question is, will it be able to fit the following:

  • A body (Canon 40D) w/ a 70-200 f/4 IS USM attach?

  • If it can't fit the previously mention L lens attached, can it atleast hold one in one of the rearrangable compartments?

I currently use the Crumpler 6MDH (Not the current model, but the one before), although it is a great bag, it doesn't really hold my L lens well. For those who own the 6MDH, you know how there is virtually no padding on the top lid where the handle lies. So in a way, it is susceptible to damage if something was to fall on that portion hard enough. Also, the lid doesn't fully closes when the L lens is enclose, leaving an asymmetric shape bag and even more susceptible to harsh weathers. Not the best way to protect you investment as you can see. Anyhow, just want to thank you all in advance and any insights will be very much appreciated.

If you get the large Snoop, I'm certain you'll be able to fit the body and lens by reconfiguring the compartments. I'm astounded by the amount of space in the bag. I recently fit a 35L, 11-16 Tokina, 85 1.8, 430 EXII and 17-55 EF-S mounted on a gripped 7D and still had room to spare if I was willing to stack lenses on top of one another. It's a fantastic bag.

Care to post some pics of your set up in the bag and of the bag itself? Considering this beside the incase sling.

Sorry, guys, the request to snap pics of the bag slipped my mind. Here are two shots of the inside of the bag loaded with gear to give you an idea of what you can fit. In the bag I have:

Left:
- 85 1.8 without hood
- 17-55IS with hood attached

Center:
- Gripped 7D with attached 100L macro with reversed hood
- 430EXII underneath the camera

Right:
- 35L with hood attached
- 50 1.4 with no hood

The bag is quite deep, so you could easily stack additional items as well. Hope this helps!

Shu

It's the medium bag. I decided to go with the larger bag to fit my 15" MacBook Pro. That being said, I'm going to post this bag up for sale shortly. It's great, but I've only used it once and find it to be a little too large for me.
