Please be specific as to what you do see and what you don't see. When you double-click a Raw file, what happens?

Yes, do give us a step by step description of how you are getting to this point. Are you importing the .CR2 files into the Organizer, or are you just double-clicking them in your file manager? (Either way will work, by the way.) Also, are you using Windows or Mac?

I have some RAW files here from a friend's 7D and have no trouble with them with either PSE7 or PSE9 using ACR 5.6 in the former and ACR 6.3 in the latter. He uses PSE8 with his 7D, by the way.

Thinking further here -- since you are just starting out, are you sure you are opening them in Adobe Camera RAW?

To help with that last question I asked, here is what Adobe Camera RAW should look like with a RAW file from a 7D.

(I have cleverly used one of my friend's first shots taken with his 7D so I don't have to get blamed for the quality of the image. No discredit to him, either; he had just gotten the camera earlier that week. )
