This cable vehicle is used to access a small community on the other side of the Skeena River during the winter months. During the summer the access is by a current driven cable ferry.
It is about a half of a kilometre trip.

That is interesting. What community is this? I live near small communities that use ferries (and in winter helicopters if the ice is too much for the boats) to access the main island. This takes that to a new extreme

Good series. I wonder what the attraction to living there is?

This is how people get home in Usk during the summer months.
The ferry is powered by the current.

From my personal experience and observation it is usually the positives of the culture of isolated living, having roots and belonging to a place where one has history, and the quiet naturalistic lifestyle

My Aunt lives in a place like this. She visits us, we don't visit her because we don't like her that much lol.

And the occasional free bit of venison that wanders into the back yard? :D
I can understand that up to a point, but can get most of those benefits at my Mother's place just 1 mile outside of town. Including...
