hello guys, I am looking for some feedback on concert photography. I would love to spend more time taking pictures of concerts. If I am going to buy glass to take photos under these conditions later on, I needed to know if I could do it with the bare minimum.

so went out there and took a 30d along with the nifty, here is what I came up with. C&C would be appreciated. Rest of the set is in HERE (external link)

Tanks Harley, appreciate the comment :) The nifty sometimes shines if you give it a chance, of course the keeper rate is going to be lower than the 85 1.8, but Its so fun to use.

Shoot a lot and critique yourself on all the normal parts of a pic. There's a pretty long list but here are a couple that relate to your first shot.
Placement of the subject in the frame. The guy in the first shot is gesturing out the side of the frame. He needs more room in the frame to gesture like that.
How the background effects the subject. That guy's face in the subject's armpit might not be ideal.

Crop on #2 is rough. When you're shooting musicians, be careful not to cut off hands. I even go so far as to say "Don't cut off the neck of the guitar."
