Had the pleasure of shooting this Osprey on Saturday Morning. He was a great subject.

#1: Curious to know what you guys think about the crop? I like it (obviously) but others don't seem so convinced.

#2: Initial push off the perch when we got a bit too close in the kayak. I was only shooting with the 70-200, so I really had to get in tight. Again, a different crop for me...

#3: Getting Going. Wish I shot it with a bit more DoF, to keep the tail and wings in, but I'm pretty pleased overall (shot at 5.6)

Thanks for looking, and I'm excited to see what you have to say.

I think they're great shots. Personally, I would have cropped the first one a bit tighter, chopping off maybe half of the dead tree. But that's so subjective, really. Nice job for sitting in a kayak!

Okay, cool, thanks for the input. The kayak thing has been working out great thus far. I was fortunate enough to be out in the tandem with another buddy in this instance he was paddling while I worked the rudder on a really nice drift so that I could get the shots I needed.

I'm really looking forward to heading back to this spot with some longer glass.

I love the second shot...the first one seems to have too much space around it. But only my opinion.

Great set of shots. If the first one was mine I would take off about 40% or so of the right side and a little from the bottom and add a some space to the upper portion while still leaving it off center but that's just me. I think the second shot is the stronger of the images here and that one I would make a little more centered and maybe take a little off the bottom. I love the second shot.

Figured the crops would be a bit contentious, so I'm going to post the unedited original and let others take a crack at it. Who knows, might be fun just to see how different those of you who decide to crop it have them end up.

Here is the file completely unedited: Crop away ;)
