My father was an avid photographer and professor of cinematography. After he passed away several years ago. I got his photographic gear. I didn't do much with it until recently when I got my 7D. Among his lenses I found a Kilfitt Zoomar 90 mm f/2.8. Its minimum focus distance is about 5.5", producing a 1:1 image reproduction on a 35mm frame. Using a crop frame on a 7D, the effective magnification is closer to 1.6:1. Below is a penny I shot on the kitchen table at f/2.8, 1/125sec, ISO 3200 (dim household illumination). This shot is shown without cropping, and only USM and color correction applied. I need to focus more carefully, but I'm excited with the magnification achieved.
