Wow! Some of you live in a very cold climate...Brrrrr. I was so impressed with all the different winter shots this week and had a hard time picking just one. Thanks to all who participated and I hope you stay warm this winter.

3rd Place: JohnB..... I Loved how those deer popped out of the snow.

2nd Place: lavanut...... Lisa, that ice stocking is really incredible. Sorry for your icy weather but hope you got plenty of good macro opportunities.

Drum Roll..............

1st Place: WaFp.........What a stunning view of Yosemite Valley. I have several similar shots and as many times as I have been up there, I am always struck by the beauty of that view as you come out of the tunnel. The clouds around Half Dome always make it special. Now, over to you!

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Congratulations WaFp! That was a great Yosemite image. I hope to go there in the near future myself! Can those of you who've been recommend the best time of year to go?

Glad you liked the "stocking", Mo. I thought it came out kinda neat. It's always a treat when we get snow down here, especially when the roads are not bad (which they don't seem to be now). I didn't venture out in the car, just around the yard with the macro lens. The wind made it a little tough though!

Nice deer shot too, John. Were those near where you live?

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

There is no best time to go but the end of summer and early fall the water in the falls is greatly diminished. Now is gorgeous if you like the winter scene and May-June the waterfalls will be torrential gushing at full capacity. They are amazing and the biggest draw to tourists. I might run up there myself (I do every year, once or twice) as I only live 80 miles away.

Yep, hanging off a leaf right outside my back door. I love ice macros. Most all the snow has melted now (I had about 1.5" at my house), but I can still probably get a few more macros tomorrow!

Out of curiosity, when you get 18", does it shut down the town for days? It would here.

I live on the side of a mountain so It's a bit worse than the town and having a 4x4 helps a lot :) It's all the clueless drivers that cause all the problems as they don't know how to drive in snow which is the biggest problem plus the total lack of the council to try and clear the side roads :( I'm sure its the same in most places that arnt used to snow and we have a lot to learn from places such as Canada and Scandinavia where I've been when they have 4 plus feet of snow and don't have problems getting about!
All the snows gone now but I'm hoping it will be coming back and hopefully in the amounts that you've been having on your side of the soon :)
