First time - Long Exposure

First bash at long exposure photography. Took my camera out last night, took probably about a dozen different shots and these are the only keepers. The 2nd was long exposure too but then I thought it looked better fake tilt shifted.

Number 1:
Canon 7d
Canon 10-22mm (12mm focal length)
F/8
iso 800
30 second shutter speed

Number 2:
Exactly the same but I can't remember the iso

you sure number 2 is f8? looks more like f2.8 or fake tilt shift

The second one is not a keeper in my opinion. The first could be, but I think the framing and composition hurt this one. The tree and the moon is the best portion of this image, I'd try to focus on just that and eliminate some of the other distracting elements to get a more interesting shot.

Doesn't work well i don't think. You really need a higher angle for it to work, also the house behind the car shouldn't be in focus.

The moonlight on the tree in the first looks pretty amazing and like Todd, I would have preferred to have seen this further explored.
