Customers ever get upset when tagging them on facebook?

Just curious, I know some people upload client pictures on their facebook pages and tag the customers. Has the customer ever gotten upset because maybe they didn't like that particular picture and didn't want all their friends seeing it?

I'm not a facebook guru, but I seem to be unable to tag people who aren't friends.

At any rate, I would tell them I was going to tag them at the same time I told them I was going to put their images online...and I would always tell them about that. I have quite a few clients who don't mind me using their images in other media and contexts, but don't want me to put them online.

When I put up weddings on fb, I'll put smith wedding! Be sure to tag yourself and friends! Shiz goes viral after that. I'll let clients do it them selves

the 'tag yourself' option is the best. Just inform them the album has gone up, and let the madness begin as people start checking it out.

Some folks are quite sensitive (or picky) about what photos they are tagged in.

Good idea about letting the clients tag themselves.

However, FB is not a good pro photo website. Pretty soon you get cluttered with all the noise. A better solution is to use something like Express Digital's site: no membership required (like Snapfish does) to see photos and you can sell your photos directly from the site and have them mailed directly to the client.

What is the tag yourself option? Can you tag anyone or do they have to be a fan?

You can only tag folks in your own friends list.

You can't tag your fans, only your friends.

That is kind of stupid, you can't even post on your fans walll that their album is up....whats the point of a fan page then with such limited communication available to your network?

If I do work for a fan I send them a friend request. Most people "like" or become fans of many many pages, and I dont think they would want those running the fan pages to have access to their pictures and Wall post.


As for the OP's question, I recently uploaded an album from an event and someone else tagged a few people and I noticed that a couple of them had untagged themselves.

Errr, not sure what this is but I'm willing to bet it doesn't have anywhere near the capacity to attract new clients as FB does.

Back to the original, we just set up a second page on facebook, our normal business one and then one using the personal profiles as our names. We will start requesting to be friends with clients so we can better communicate on Facebook with them, see what their friends are saying, tag them, etc about what is going on with the other page.

I've noticed recently a lot of photography sites are doing friend pages (against rules of facebook but they are doing it) and using BIZNAME-PHOTOGRAPHY as their last name. Wonder how strict facebook is with this......

I guess that explains why Megan Fox hasn't tagged me....

If it makes them look bad, it makes me look bad. I don't post anything that will make me look bad, so no they don't get mad at me when I tag them.

I've never heard of Express Digital. I assume it's a proofing/ordering service? If so, that's not quite the same as social marketing. We don't use social marketing to sell the photos themselves...we use it to get our work out there in front of our friends and our clients' friends so they in turn contact us to fulfill their own photographic needs. For this purpose, facebook isn't good...it's perfect.
