Hey guys what should I know going from Rebel XT a 5D mark 2.
I'm reading the owners manual but I'm not done with it yet and just wanted to get some peoples thoughts.
Thanks,
Phil

Mike ugly when I'm sober More info | Dec 20, 2010 12:55 | #3 1st thing to know is that your 18-55 lens won't work. You won't have a flash (not that an on-board one is any good anyway). You'll need more CF memory cards. You'll be able to hand hold at lower shutter speeds to what you are used to - i.e. a 50mm lens will be hand holdable at 1/50s instead of 1/80s that you'd have needed with your rebel. www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk

I got it for under $1600 with tax as an open box item I saw a guy go into a local big box retailer and return it because he thought that he order the 1D, and then I'm back in there and it's on open box special.... Warranty wasn't registered or anything. 10D and a sheet of cardboard with a pen hole in it.

As an open box item I saw the guy open it and I saw him say oh wait this isn't the big one and return it. I'm going to sell the 75-300 and the XT with the kit lenes to get some new glass. But I think that the 50 1.8 @ 2.2 and higher is fine for this camera... it's awesome. I had been saving up for a full frame and new glass but I couldn't pass that up. I mean, would you? Even at $1600, the price is pretty good for a practically brand new 5D2. Enjoy it!

Dec 20, 2010 14:14 | #11 Okay.. You have a plan.. that sounds good. I agree, the 50mm will be fine (but just the 50 from your current set). When I saw your signature, it made me think that new glass was not an option, and that would be a mistake, even with that discount... you could do better. 7D | 300D | G1X | Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 | EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro | EF 85mm f/1.8 | 70-200 f/2.8L MkII -- flickr

More info | Dec 20, 2010 14:18 | #12 Yes your lenses are the resticting factor but one things for sure the centre of your 75-300 won't look any worse on the 5D2 than it did on the XT, the edges won't look as good but the centre sharpness will be exactly the same as the XT, if's you'd bought a 7D or 60D it would have 'looked' allot softer. I changed my sig, I thought it was funnier the other way but I guess people don't think that I'm going to upgrade or something. 10D and a sheet of cardboard with a pen hole in it.
