I had a 300D and a 75-300, which I thought was fine at the time.
When I upgraded to the 7D (with a much higher pixel density) I clearly noticed that the 75-300 shots were much softer than the ones I was getting with some of the better lenses I purchased with the 7D.

Yeoer is correct when he says the the 75-300 won't look any worse on the 5D than on the 350D, except around the edges (which in the case of the 75-300, is a significant exception as sharpness drops off sharply at the edges).. But you didn't buy a 5D for mediocre results.

One thing that I feel I should put in here real quick after two days of using this.

1) Live view is still awesome.
2) The ability to zoom in on the subject mater to get a cleaner focus is amazing.
3) The faster burst mode is a huge + when trying to capture children running about at family gatherings.
4) Live view kills the battery
5) 1/50th of a second shutter is possible while hand held.
6) Movie mode really does come in handy sometimes.

All of these things make me fell like this was a great upgrade. Even if I only have one decent lens right now.

Hi there, sounds like your into the whole live view manual focus thing like me.If so you probably are going to want to add the grip and an extra battery, or just carry a spare battery alone in your pocket.Yeah live view drains em fast.On lenses, you can get some great manual glass and adapter cheap.I shoot the old Nikkor AIS lenses on mine, 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 (non-ai), 105mm 2.5, 135 3.5, and 200mm 4.Top notch optics at a fraction of the cost of L lenses.Have fun.

I almost never use auto Focus, it just never comes out right.

What type of glass do you suggest? Do you have and pics to show me what those old nikkors can do?

It was an open box at a Sears, and there was some sort of special event happening.
