Do I still need to buy the reflector adapter to mount the softbox or octa? What modifiers are you guys using the quadra?

Yes, you'd need the quadra adapter unless you want to use any of the softboxes specially made for the Quadras. Accesssories for the quadra are listed here: http://www.elinchrom.com/products.php?cat=96 (external link)

Any other reflectors, you'd need an adapter for. The 7" reflector seems like a must-have for the grids. You can also get the adapter and the generic 7" reflector as an alternative to the quadra specific one, but I can't think of any grids that will fit the standard reflector that comes with the kit.

Is there a discount on the A kit?
