I like nikon bodies, they feel better. Still getting use to the dials. I'm probably, well at least hoping, to move to 100% film so. Still for 35mm, I will use a f5 and it is pretty much the same ergonomics as the new bodies.

I'm looking for a type writer and a horse & carriage. Let me know if you spot one of these. ;)

Dont forget about the banding issues! The largest i print is A3

A3 that's it?That's not encouraging. The reason I bought my 5DII was a couple people I know who have been successful commercial architectural photographers, shooting 4x5 for many years, claim there happy with prints up to 16x20 from their 5dII's in comparison to their 16x20 4x5 prints. How hard are you pushing your shadows?

I was getting excellent A3's with my Pentax K20 which was only 14mp APS-C in comparison to my own drum scanned 4x5's.Hope I dident waste 2300 bucks :(

Sorry for typos, on my iPod right now

I've got pretty impressive 16x20's from my D700 and I'm sure many have also done the same with a 5D classic. No real room for cropping at that size though unless you're viewing from a few feet away from the image.

I'm certain one day (possibly soon) we'll have a 34.6MP full frame camera so that we could print a 16x20 at 300ppi without up-res'ing and it'll be able to shoot 8fps with a 5D/D700 sized body.

From a rank amateur's perspective, the appeal of Nikon bodies are the features you get at a given price point. You can right now get great af performance, fast fps & great high iso performance all in a FF package at the expense of a lower mp count and these days only slightly more expensive glass.

Here's to hoping 2011 will be the year that Canon decides to compete on all levels, not just MP. A lot of amateurs like to shoot a variety of subject matter and the do it all nature of Nikon bodies is getting quite appealing. I for one have no intention of carrying 2 bodies around to get all of the above which is what Canon seems to want me to do.....

Well I definitely like how the viewfinder is more off to the side on the Nikons. Helps prevent smushed nose syndrome. LOL

...and that's the only offering Nikon has at the professional level and for most, the cost is prohibitive.

All you have to do is look at the 5DMKII to realize that in terms of MP, Canon is way ahead of the game. Not to mention the 1DsMKII (a little dated, but still 16MP) 1DsMKIII, 1DMKIV, and even the 7D.

Nikon's got nothing that matches the 5DMKII. Canon's got nothing that matches the D700.

Pick your poison! :D

ive got to say that the 1dsmk2 although dated is a match for the d700 I used to own the 1dsmk2 and now i have the d700. they are very similar although the canon dont have the bells and whistles of the d700 .

Not only missing the bells and whistles but also missing the framerate and the high ISO performance.

Canon is intuitive to use.

For Nikon manual is mandatory. Example for cutom white balance on one model press specific key for 2sec:p . I forgot which key next day  .

my 1dmk2 would like to talk to you. some functions require pressing two random keys at the same time, navigating requires holding down a button then turning the wheel, etc. /shrug. Both are great.

the fun thing with the d700 is that there are SO many buttons that you can bracket with them, if you dont like what you chimp, just press another one and then see how that came out and so on... at first i thought it awkward, like my granny when she sees a modern mobile phone, but the fear of buttons have left and i just push and push :)
