I suspect you may need to adjust the screw in the leg clamp.

It sounds to me like you may need to slightly loosen the nut with the little plastic wrench that came with the tripod. If you don't have that wrench, any ordinary 8mm socket wrench or 8mm nut driver should do the job.

hi
may i ask 2 questions ?

1)
in the manual there is remove cap "K" , in both tripod 190 and 055 , i haven't this caps
i guess they are https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=5832197&postcount=4
i guess the 7 picture

are they useful, helpful ? really don't know

2) about the 498rc2
when i mount my camera on the head , pushing level in the manual H , does lock every time the platte
sometime i should push it to lock
does it need some oil or i saw a nut under the pushing level ,should i tighten?

sometime i use the tripod under the rain , when the ball will become sluggish ,which grease should i use?

thanks a lot

I think the caps would be good for protecting the clamp bolts from water and dirt which may cause corrosion.

I would never oil a ball, I would confirm with Manfrotto what to do.

You should be using some sort of cover for the camera which would also cover the tripod head and prevent it from getting wet, eg. Thinktank Hydrophobia

Back to the original question.....

Manfrotto is very good in that they give you THREE choices of Quick Release Plates for each of the many tripod heads they manufacture.

As was said earlier, the 498RC2 does not have a bubble level. None of the heads with the RC2 quick release plate have bubble levels. But ALL of the heads with the RC0 or RC4 DO have bubble levels.

I have an older Manfrotto 055 that didn't have a level so I bought some small levels form ebay and glued one to my tripod base. http://cgi.ebay.com …iewItem&item=160490758560 (external link)

The RC2 heads are probably too small for Manfrotto to add a level, but you could add one to the top of the lever arm like this:

sometime i should push with my finger it to lock
does it need some oil or i saw a nut under the pushing level ,should i tighten? (edit: tried to write in better english)

I used Cyanoacrylate glue. Also known as "Crazy Glue, "Super Glue", etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Glue (external link)

It is quite normal that you must push the lever to get a good tight lock on the plate. Is that what you are asking?
