I've had to replace a broken lens hood this weekend, that doesn't count as 'new gear' right?? ;)

Nope, that is maintenance!

how did your night shots from Saturday turn out Kevin?

I was pleased with the shots I got of a close up big ben, but the 12-24 Siggy lens I borrowed from Jay was a bit hit and miss in comparison (user uselessness I guess!)

EDIT- just checked out the 365 project, I absolutely love Thursdays "red riding hoodless" shot, it's awesome!

by my reckoning then my 70-200 is broken and needs replacing with a 70-200 MKII ;)

Morning all!

Still looking at lenses. I've been looking at the 70-200 f/4 IS USM but is it worth looking at the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM mark1?

I know the mark2 is heavy and awesome as well as expensive. But 2.8 would be nice, is the mark1 worth looking at if you were to just compare it to the f/4 IS?

Will

Thanks! My mom really liked that one too, she wants to print it off. I guess she's got some weird interior design going on that would suit a print of that shot ;)

Other pics from Sat were just ok. This one was my shot for the day:

the bus shot is awesome, the movie company needs to be buying that shot from you, it works a treat!

The mark I version is heavy and awesome as well. Lots of folks here rate the f4 version higher, it just depends on if you need 2.8 or not? Looking back over the years, I suspect the f4 version would have fine (and it really is a LOT lighter)

Cheers Lee. That LRRH shot was just a quick snap out front of the tate on the way home Thursday night. I just edited the bejesus out of it :)

I've been having fun with the tilt-shift again, but it is a bit of work.
