I would personally be quite wary of those batteries. I have had two of their 1D3 batteries and they both died after their first charge on the genuine charger. Put on the charger, green lights showing full charge needed - come back a few hours later, no light in the charger, unresponsive battery both on charger and in camera. Ok they are cheap, but that's ridiculous. I would forever be worried they would fail when I really needed them too.

( btw charged using two different plug sockets and different port on the charging block)

I wonder if the fact they are decoded means the charger can't yell when they are full and over charges them or something?

had you locked on focus before shooting?
Have you got the "shot when not in focus" option on?
Were you shooting RAW?

If it's not able to lock focus it won't shoot which can slow it down. As an experiment, put your camera in manual and switch your lens to manual focus and see how fast it shoots then.

You don't have to shoot in manual, I was just trying to troubleshoot. The less stuff the camera has to figure out for itself, the faster it can shoot. They say setting the white balance helps too, but it's not really noticeable to be honest.

Raw is fine, and if something is moving you'll probably want to shoot in AIServo mode.
