had a pretty good turn out for the Big Garden Bird Watch today, lots of familair faces, a few not so... couple of sets of chaffinches checking out the niger seed...

then everyone scarpered... this guy arrived, my first bird of prey in the garden...

I nearly wet myself with excitement! :D

Hi Lee

This is a female Sparrowhawk for sure. You dont really want this back in your garden do you lol.

Its really exciting seeing these and great for a one-off visit to your garden, but they arent welcome in my garden for sure.

Your new seed feeders are attracting the Sparrowhawk's dinners lol.

I was skim reading to catch up on the days gossip......why is everyone breaking/updating kit??

Loophole in my "not buying any new gear this year" does not include replacing broken kit ;)

I think I have already spent enough this year albeit I have sold quite a bit to pay for the new stuff. My promise is I cannot spend any more unless it is directly earnt from photography.

Evening all, back home now and as usual oh so many posts to speed read through ~ great London shots and stonking indoors hockey from the sports maestro ;)

ttfn :D

PS as for kit well this weekend has re-inforced my need to "update" from my 70-300.............if anyone knows someone who would like to buy this lens do speak up ;)

PPS Incidently the tog Paul Hillion I met said during our chat that he handholds his 800mm most of the time togging the birds! If you look at his website there is a Gull with a Mallard chick in its beak.......this was almost a grab shot handheld with the 800mm !!!

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p
