OK, I've shot a couple videos of my husband's band playing. I don't need anything great, but I'm wondering which (fairly cheap and easy to use) camera will be able to better handle that kind of audio without anything external. I've been using the G11 and for such a little camera the video for web stuff is fine but obviously the mic can't handle it. I'd like stereo, but it's not needed. It's really only to put crappy videos online- nothing too serious. They're currently recording and needing new equipment so the budget is fairly small. Not knowing anything about video this is the first spot I'm looking. I see lots of average people like the flip and someone said something about a zoom??

Any suggestions?

There are pretty much zero cameras that have decent on-board audio. If I were in your shoes, though, I would be looking at the Zoom Q3HD: http://www.zoom.co.jp …h/products/q3hd/index.php (external link) -- it's got an OK camera with stereo mics on board that won't be too bad. It was designed for doing what you describe. It's not going to be "OMG PUBLISH!" quality, but if you're just looking to record a couple concerts it should do the job just fine.

Thanks. After looking a bit, I see that the video part can kind of suck. I heard someone say use a flip ultra and get a blue mickey for it. I guess they come out in the spring. My husband said for something like that the blue mics are pretty good.

I'm not looking for great video or sound. Basically just something to throw on their site and facebook to show people, and for personal use to record how they look and sound and fix anything they may be doing wrong. Good quality is a bonus.

Here's what I did a week ago when they opened for Eddie Spaghetti of the Supersuckers. The video is ok for the G11 in a VERY dark bar, but the audio is missing SO much of the performance.

Mind you I've used the video function at maybe three gigs and really don't know how to use it aside from pressing the button.
