I just got some Alien Bees to start playing with. My daughter was willing to let me play for a little bit. I know I am going to enjoy using these lights. This shot is with just the B800 and an umbrella. No other light or reflector. Post processing just consisted of softening just a bit.

Equipment:
20d w/ Tamron 28-75
F11
1/250
ISO100

I have noticed that too. When I look at the photos through the browsers, they look too cool. I just picked up a print of this photo and the colors are right on to PS.

Solinger - I used a silver reflector umbrella. I also have a shoot through and I will probably play with it this weekend. As for my daughter, she was getting into it. She wants to learn photography so we are going to practice some more this weekend. Should be fun :)

The light looks very nice and even. :D Nice that your Daughter is interested in photography, you can take turns shooting each other.
BTW, From what I see here, You're gonna LUV those Bees. ;)

This is a very good picture. I thing you did an excellent job.

Will she be getting her own camera so she can practice on you?

She won't be taking pics of me. I stay behind the camera. I will make her brothers get in there!! I might let her help me with a model photoshoot I have next weekend. We shall see.

Very nice... I was wondering how much lighting I need to invest in to get started. Looks like you answered my question nicely. Love the Tamron! I just got my stuff (camera & lens) yesterday. Can't wait to play with it some more this weekend.

Your daughter looks sweet, and a very nice portrait.
