I have done a search to try and find some info about this but I've pretty much come up empty handed. I see a lot of posts concerning the 7D and how it can really put lenses through a "stress test". I currently use the gear in my sig.

My question is for those of you that are using the 70-200 f2.8L IS V1 and 24-105 f4L IS on either the 7d, 5d2, or both. Do these lenses keep up with the sensors in both of these cameras (mainly on the 7d)? I picked up my 70-200 on FM for a good price and I'm worried if I pick up a 7d that I will possibly need to upgrade to the v2 shortly after because the sensor is so demanding. Am I just being crazy? Thanks in advance.

Those lens work perfectly fine on 7Ds and 5Ds. No worries.

I bet you'd be hard pressed to notice any differences.

I figured as much but reading through dozens and dozens of posts can sometimes warp my rational perspective :)
Thanks for the reassurance.

Don't sweat it -- the sensors are good but so is the L glass :)

In general, we are definitely getting cameras that out reslove cheap lenses. Did you notice that Canon just came out with a new line of lenses? Going to take some doing to keep "consumer" lenses up to the improvement in bodies,

I use both of these lenses on a 1div which (IMHO) is equal or better in resolution (without allowing for crop factor) than the 7d and find little or nothing to criticise with them. They are not the ultimate in sharpness but then they are not primes. I find they both give good to excellent A3 images when quite heavily cropped. I acknowledge the 70-200 is Mkii is better but back in the real world the photographer is FAR more important than a minor improvement in lens quality. I cannot speak on the 5Dii as I have the 5dc and it really shines on these lenses.
P.S. In my comment regarding resolution I do not intend to denegrate the 7D (Ithink it's the best DSLR for the money from anybody) it's just that the 1 series bodies seem to punch above their weight - pixel wise. Perhaps a deliberate policy from Canon?

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

I've only used the 70-200 mkII in that line, but also have the 24-105 that I use regularly on my 7D. Once I dialed things back to default after some measurbating stupidity, the 24-105 is fantastic on that body. And the mkII is, of course, pretty stunning as well. You should be just fine with both lenses...in fact, I'd hazard that you may like them better. I think the lenses were capable of resolving much more detail than my 40D was.
