Whenever there is sunlight my LCD monitor is rendered virtually useless.

Does everybody else have the same problem or is it it just my particular G3.

If this is common or expected as I suspect it is, has anybody got a solution

Stu-Art,

We all have this problem. You can order a shade for the LCD, it is cute, ordered one the other day, it hasn't arrived yet.

Here is the link, you need the one that is 2".

Here is another LCD shade. This is what I use and it works great!

The one NILOLIGIST recommended is very good also. Take your pick.

In a pinch your left hand will make a good shade, too. :)

Ok! You and Frederique win! Forget about the left hand unless you're over 6 feet tall and have big hands! :)

I have another $0 idea but I think I'll keep it to myself. I don't want to get kicked out of the forum...not just yet! :D

The Screen-Shade works great. I don't have a magnifier version. I've used it on some very sunny days (see my galleries). If you get a Screen-Shade it attaches with very thin velcro tape. You have to cut, trim, and adjust the tape (tape only needs to be on three sides) to get the LCD to shut in closed position. I like the Screen-Shade better then the Hoodman as it collapes, so that it does not get in your way as you carry it around.

Has anyone tried the X-tend a View device from PhotoSolve?

Out of the devices I've seen it looks pretty decent, although haven't established the need yet. Not crazy about velcro adhesive on my camera though. Reminds me of the days when PDA cases required such measures to hold your device. Ick!!

Has built in 2X magnifier for the LCD BTW.

IndyDave,

I don't know anything about the X-tend a view but the X-tend-a-Slide seems very interesting.
