I bought 2 MK-RC7 transmitter/receiver items from Linkdelight and I am not sure what/where the problem is regarding the flash not firing.
I can fire either flash when attached to the 7D. I have the receiver connected to the port on the 7D through the cable that came supplied with the TX/RX. And the flash is attached to the top of the 7D of course. This combination works with either TX/RX I bought.
The problem comes when I take the flash off camera. I connect the transmitter to the top of the camera, making sure it's locked securely in place. Then I connect the receiver to the bottom of the flash making sure the flash is tightened down and secure. I then turn on camera, flash and receiver in this order. Once I see the red light on the receiver I depress the shutter button 1/2 way then the green light on the receiver indicates it's ready.
When I take the picture I am not getting the flash to fire. Any thoughts anyone?
My flashes are the YN460-II's and the Quantaray QDC 900WA.

DannySS had a problem with his last week.

Just to be sure, are your flash settings 100% the same? What mode are you shooting in? You've tried both sets? All pair-wise combinations? All same channel?

I just got mine and they seem to work but sometimes the shutter fires repeatedly until I unplug the cord.

It sounds like the units may be working together. Hopefully we can figure this out.

I am shooting in Manual Mode on the 7D. I have tried both TX/RX sets. Both sets will fire the flash when it's attached to the 7D. I have tried the YN460-II's in M/SI/SII mode with no success. I do see the green light on the receiver when attempting to take the picture, but the flash won't fire. Is there a setting on the 7D perhaps preventing the flash from firing?
I wouldn't think so.
I have checked to make sure I am using the same channel on the TX/RX.

This mode you describe is when you are using the RC-7 RX as a corded shutter release

Does this work when you use the TX to trigger the shutter wirelessly with the RX plugged into the shutter remote port ?

If it works as a wireless shutter release, then interference is not an issue.

Usually it is a problem with batteries, are you using the cheap batteries that came with the unit, those in the RX may not have much power left to trigger the flash. Try it with fresher batteries.

Took about 2 weeks, but to Korea it should be much less.

I could fire the flash using the TX and with the RX plugged into the camera port.
I'll try new batteries in the morning after I make it to the store. I looked around the house and found about 50 new AA's and 1 AAA. How's that for luck? Thanks for the suggestion lannes, I'll keep everyone updated on whether or not that's the problem. I sure hope so.

Good call lannes. The batteries that come with these units are trash. I just assumed Thorrulz swapped them since I only trust my Eneloops.

Mine took 2 weeks to get to Canada.
The batteries that come with the units are worth nothing. The second day, I had 2 dead batteries already.
Mine are on their way back to China. It's costing me $18. to send them back. LinkDelight finally sent me a return number and the address. Hopefully i'll get a new set in a month.

Tried new batteries in both sets of MK-RC7's and no triggering the flash when it's off camera. I guess I'll be getting ahold of Linkdelight for an exchange. I think I'll also just go ahead and buy the RF-602's instead.

Must be a flash compatibility problem, strange how 2 RX's don't work. Any chance of testing with Canon speedlites.

Best you get the RF-602's at least that will work with your YN-460.

dannyss and aggieoutlaw

Just out of interest what brand of flash units are you using with your RC-7's, I suspect they might have issues with non Canon speedlites.

I'm using the 580ex II and the 430ex II with no problems, with the locking mechanism on the flash I've never had any connection problems with the RX. I'm wondering if there are connection problems with third party flash units.

I've used them on a 430EX II, 550EX, and Sunpak 383 with no problems.
