A couple of friends of mine are tying the knot tomorrow, and I'm gonna take my camera to take a few shots (they have a 'proper' wedding photog of course!). I'm gonna borrow my old man's 430ex. I plan on using my 17-85, and was wondering if I should bother to take my 70-200 (also I have the option of borrowing my old man's 17-40 f/4L, but think my 85 will give me a bit more flexibilty).
Any general tips? What lens(es) would you take?
Cheers!

edit: oops - mods feel free to move this into 'Talk About Photography' or wherever you think best!

I would not go to a wedding without my 75-300 even if I was the "proper photog" You can get the candid stuff without being a distraction...Not so helpful inside if you don't want to use a flash during the ceremony (requirement for lay photogs at many churches now) I use my kit lens 18-55 for inside work or the 85 1.8 . I perfer the 18-55 inside because of the flexability when shooting candid...

If it were me, I'd take the 17-40 and the 70-200. The "L" quality of the 17-40 trumps the 17-85 IMO and the 70-200 will allow you to hang back and take some candid shots. With the aperture opened up, you may not even need the flash.

Good luck

I'm seriously considering the 17-40 now, but slightly worried (maybe unduly!) about the gap from 40-70 (there's no point in me taking my 17-85 too).
Pleasant suprise though - I'd remembered a 430ex, turns out it's a 550!
