This has been one incredible year, during the course of the year I have been able to shoot the Space Shuttle several times. I am lucky that I have been given the
chance to photograph the shuttle during this time in its history as the program comes to a close. I have created the blog linked below with my favorite Space Shuttle program images of the year. I hope you all enjoy the photos!

It's truly sad that our proud history of space flight has been changed so drastically by one administration...just sad.

Although its looking a little rocky right now, I just hope that the future is better. It is looking like it very well could be.

Great photos and blog! I am a huge fan of space exploration, and have been to NASA before.

I am glad that even through the shuttle program is coming to a close, its last days were captured in great detail. Thank you!

Obama and Space

Yes thanks Obama. Single handedly destroyed the dreams of many a boy and girl.

And how is that? I love it when people talk out of their ass.

Obama wrote:
“The bottom line is, nobody is more committed to manned spaceflight, to human exploration of space than I am,”

Obama wrote:
“We’ve got to do it in a smart way, and we can’t just keep on doing the same old things we’ve been doing and thinking that’s going to get us where we want to go.”

Obama wrote:
“Step by step, we will push the boundaries not only of where we can go but what we can do. In short, 50 years after the creation of NASA, our goal is no longer just a destination to reach. Our goal is the capacity for people to work and learn, operate and live safely beyond the Earth for extended periods of time.”

Obama did not predict a Mars landing soon. But he said that by 2025, the nation would have a new spacecraft "designed for long journeys to allow us to begin the first-ever crewed missions beyond the moon into deep space."
"We'll start by sending astronauts to an asteroid for the first time in history," he said. "By the mid-2030s, I believe we can send humans to orbit Mars and return them safely to Earth. And a landing on Mars will follow."
Obama said he was "100 percent committed to the mission of NASA and its future." He outlined plans for federal spending to bring more private companies into space exploration following the soon-to-end space shuttle program.

Bush was the one who decided to move away from the shuttle program, I agree we need something new. But I feel we shouldn't retire the fleet until we have a new human rater vehicle.

Thank you! Being able to get to see our space program up close is incredible. Amazing how much goes into it.

Nice images. Iconic.

Might you be willing to provide some larger versions of the pictures on your blog?
