Hey guys, a big fan of a lot of the work on here! really something to work towards!

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on my photo quality. I've had the Rebel XSI with a EFS 17-85mm Lens for two days now and I'm loving it.

I guess I am looking more for comments on photo quality as opposed to artistic criticism as I wasn't really trying to get the best angle or anything. (it's cold as hell here now)

Thanks everyone! Keep up all the great work and thanks for this awesome source of information!

I tried to process each of them in GIMP 2. The church photo got a little messed up when I was trying to open in in UFRaw for some reason. There would be glitches in the photo!

Nice Set 2 and 4 are the best for me well done if only you could have got the car moved in number 4

I assume that you mean you're looking for technical critiques. If so, read on.

#1 is a tough exposure because it's a high-contrast scene (blacks and whites without midtones). It looks like the sky is properly exposed for, but the snow is underexposed. This also has the side effect of underexposing the woman in the jacket. I assume that your subject is the woman - if so, I would expose more for her and compose with less sky if this blew out the sky. Or if you wanted to get fancy I guess you could blend two exposures, taking the sky from one and adding it to the subject in another.

#4 it looks like white balance is off a bit.

Yeah, that's what I mean, thanks!

Thanks for the comments on 1. I hadn't even really thought of it at all when I took it but now that you mention it, it probably would have helped tremendously to have known what I was going for.

on number 4, I'll try to modify it a little in UFraw and see if I can fix that!
