Ok, here's a couple of my photos. I had to decrease the quality to bring the size down. Need your input please.

Welcome (again). You've picked a couple of tough subjects. The first looks underexposed. The second has no context. Pretty sky in both but the land is too dark in the first and there is no subject in the second.

Thanks for your input. I see what you mean on the first photo but not sure what you mean by subject in the second. I was trying to capture the colors in the sky and using the tree as contrast.

A grad ND would have helped balance the dynamic range of the first image.

As already said the first is just lacking in the foreground, I would prefer the second if it was cropped wirth the tree more to the left hand side and its also clipped the top branch slightly and its bugging me keeps drawing my eyes up to it, but thats just my opinion and not even I trust it a lot of the time ;-)a

Keep at it and just take what you like and what you feel is right, personally I don't have the patience for landscapes so anything is better than I would do.

The first photo does nothing for me; it like something you would see out of you car window if you lived in the foothills of any mountain range. It is not to say I don't appreciate it nature, but it is nothing special. Now number two is different story, I like the silhouette of the tree. Flasyphotos did a nice job of reducing the clutter.

The first picture I was trying to capture the sunset but here in Montana that can be a challenge due to the mountains. Thank you so much for your input.
I agree with you on the second photo. That is one of my favorites due to the tree in the foreground. Flashyphotos did do a nice job of reducing the clutter.

I am so new with my DSLR camera and photography terms that I'm not sure what you mean by grad ND? If you have time and wish to share could you explain please.

I hadn't noticed the top of the tree until you mentioned it. It is very distracting once you know it's there. That photo was taken from my back yard so I had lots of the neighbors trees to work around. Thanks so much for your input.

You did a great job cropping this photo. I didn't think about doing that myself. Did you do anything other than crop it. It's hard to tell unless I looked at the photos side by side. Thanks for your help.

Hi

I just cropped the photo to move the tree to the left and remove the top layer of clouds, I then used the clone tool in Photoshop to work over the branches of the tree that were going out of frame and replace them with blue sky, its not very well done as it was a quick edit on the small size file, but given some time and the large file you could do a great job with it and really finish off the image for a nice effect.
