I've been trying to upload pics from Christmas Eve to Facebook since last night and it looks like the pictures upload but it then freezes at that point.
I've tried 4 times with no luck. Anyone else having this problem?

they should be at your photos section nonetheless, you just need to go to edit the album to publish them

To make my photos upload faster at PhotoBucket, or just Facebook, what i do is to resize the photos first. I "Reduce Image Size" with CS5 to 850 pixels on the long (or tall) side, and then save as "For web & devices" which in turn decreases its size, but retain image quality. Then I upload them to web sites such as Facebook and others.

Here is one example of such a photo size, which uploads within a second or two:

I know, right? I'm just sayin'...

Max size on FB is 720px - Any bigger and they just resize them anyway.
FB also apply massive compression to images anyway so don't expect them to look their best.

I regularly create albums on Facebook, so I'm familiar with how to do it. Even after resizing my pictures, and uploading to FB, I am stuck at the status screen that shows the progress of the upload. I get to the point where the pictures are all uploaded, click create album, and then nothing.

Multi millions uploading to facebook, could have the pipe clogged. Everybody wants to put yesterday on there FB today.

More people home and full of cheer mean more people on the net, that and it's cold outside.

I've had the same issue and this was going to be my recommendation.

You can upload images larger now and I just did it. I uploaded an image at 1024 and then saved it back to my hard drive and it holds the size. However, I did upload one larger than 1024 on the longest side and then saved it back to my hard drive and it resized it to my hard drive and it made it 720. I know that there was some discussions on this a short while ago and that they were allowing larger uploads, though I don't see the need for it on this site.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

This is not true. You can now upload high resolution photos and even let anyone download the high resolution version.

Though they will apply compression to already compressed photos. I upload photos 650 pixels on the long side with a JPG quality of 68 for a photo for facebook, yet after uploading I look very closely and see signs of additional compression applied.

They get 100,000,000 photos added to their servers every day so they need to keep overall file sizes down!

Maybe I should have added 'Displayed' - You can upload larger but FB won't display them any bigger than 720px.

If you upload larger, then download, you will get an even more compressed copy back on your hard drive so i can't see any reason upload bigger.

To use facebook as a photo sharing site, allowing friends to download a higher resolution version for printing a 4x6 or 5x7. The photo aspect of facebook is free and easy and people are already using it instead of trying to direct them to a separate photo sharing website of yours.
