Merry Christmas everyone! Well just my two cents, but both Canon and Nikon reside in my home and have along with a few other brands. My wife loves Nikon, and I love her just the same. This just means I have twice as much kit to choose from if needed. Also, as S.A. Pearl so beautifully stated, it is the photographer behind the camera that makes the photos, not the camera. We should all remember this on this day a day of love and family.

Afterall, WE all on this planet together! Cameras are only a piece of technology that we use to make pretty things neat for another person to view. So let us bury this debate on this happiest of days and spend our time with loved ones!?!?!

Thank you for a wonderful post Jim - very, very nicely put. None of us should get so distracted by this transient hardware that we forget about the more enduring "wetware" in our family and all around us that is really the most important consideration :D. Happy holidays to all. - Stu

Back in the film days, I started out with a Pentax MX. After about a year or so, switched to Nikon F3, Then F4. Both great cameras, and Got them at great prices thru the Army PX's. Now that I have gone digital, I have chosen Canon. But, like others have said, Nikon makes some fine equipment, and it helps the market when we have different manufactures out there in compititon. Just my two cents worth.

It's better to have it and not need it, Than to need it, and not have it.;)

When I was at disney a couple of weeks ago I noticed more canons than nikons. Most of the Nikons were D5000's. Saw a healthy dose of Sony's too. Most of the canon's were T1i's. Glad to have the healthy competition between brands though. Benefits us all.
