I am getting some rather good comments on my blog entries but a lot of them are attached to either insurance advertisements or Porn. Even the posters name is sex or adult or things like that. what do you do? I have marked them as spam but they are adding good comments to the blog. is there a way to block their ID or the links that are attached to them?

It's one of the downsides of having blogs that allow comments. Depending on your blogging software, you may be able to set up some kind of Captchya system (those crazy letters and numbers you have to decipher) - that should eliminate most of the automated spam (although there is software out that that can read those codes).

You'll need to read the documentation that came with your blogging solution as to what anti-spam measures it can use.

I delete those. They're not adding anything to your blog. I have a moderation system so I go through the comments and approve/delete them and only leave the comments from legit people.

My .02 on it..... are they really "good" comments if they're attached to porn or other adverts?

If it is a porn link or an ad in the link back field, it is spam. If its porn, google may associate your blog with adult material which will get it blocked in a lot of places. Better to delete it.

Using the OP logic of they are "good comments"; you might as well just add your own "good comments"... they have about the same kind of value.

Relax. Nobody is judging your work. Just saying that the comments you're referring to are not legit.
