I like the second one, but yes, a bit underexposed, and neither seem to be very sharp? What equipment did you use?

This is my very first DSLR camera. Its' a Rebel T1i with a Canon 18-55mm and a 55-250 mm lens. I'm not sure how to use evaluative metering. I definitely need to take a photography class sometime real soon.

This is my first DSLR camera and I still have a lot to learn. My camera is a Rebel T1i with a 18-55 mm and a 55-250 mm lens. I believe that I used the landscape auto selection and standard zoom lens for this shot. I don't know very much about manual settings. Any suggestions for a good online photography class? The town I live in doesn't have any place to take photography classes.

Read your camera Manual and it will explain alot of the features and play around with the WB on this shot as well.

Played with the White Balance and Contrast at first. Then desaturated some colors and saturated others

Run that first pic through the highpass filter, then change the blend mode. Will sharpen it up quite a bit.

I like how you brightened it up some and increased the pink in the clouds. Unfortunately there aren't too many opportunities for taking photos here in the winter. It's just too darn cold and I'm not into freezing my tail off. I have lots of photos taken with my Sony H50 though. Maybe I can find another thread where I can submit some of those.

Thanks! I didn't think I would ever own a camera this nice. The price was right too. I'm already dreaming about a Speedlite external flash and a macro lens. :) Although I've started thinking that maybe I would have been better off with a high end Canon point and shoot *Sigh* Only because I am so lost on manual settings.

Thanks for the edit. I think it looks much better. What editing software do you use? I have Paintshop Pro X2, Adobe Photo Elements 7 and I just started using Codedcolor Photo Studio. Of course I have Canon Digital Photo Professional too for RAW edits.
